Certifications

HAP Residential Services are licensed annually by the Department of Public Welfare. Additionally, all employees undergo Act 33 (Child Abuse) and Act 34 (Criminal History) Clearances prior to employment.

How are individuals chosen for the program?

HAP Enterprises receives referrals on individuals with a primary diagnosis of Mental Retardation from the Beaver County Base Service Unit. When there is a vacancy in the residential program, the referrals are reviewed and house visits are set-up for those individuals that may seem appropriate for the house where there is a vacancy. Final decision is based on the visits and discussions with between HAP Enterprises and the Base Service Unit.

How many individuals reside in a house?

A maximum of four individuals reside in a house. HAP Enterprises has numerous homes where three individuals reside and also many apartments that are shared by just two people.

Can families be actively involved in their family members life?

HAP Enterprises strongly believes continued family involvement provides a higher quality of life for the individuals and provides a better opportunity for a successful transition to the residential program.

Where does the funding for the program come from?

All funds for the program are received from the Beaver County Mental Health/Mental Retardation office.

Is there a fee for the service?

State fiscal guidelines call for each individual to sign a room and board contract to off set housing costs. The amount is 72% of an individuals income with the maximum amount collected to be no higher than 72% of the current monthly Social Security Disability Income. The current maximum amount allowed is $400.13. If the individual receives less than the current Social Security amount then the room and board is charged at 72% of their monthly income. There is no cost to family members for the service.
